چکیده

Tamarixia radiata (Waterston) (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) is an effective idiobiont ectoparasitoid of the psyllid Diaphorina citri Kuwayama (Hemiptera: Psyllidae), vector of the huanglongbing (citrus greening disease) pathogen. We examined the external and functional morphology of the antennal sensilla of adultmale and femaleT. radiatabyusing scanning and transmission electron microscopy, respectively, to gain insights into the behavioral ecology of this parasitoid. The geniculate antennae of male and female T. radiata were composed of a long scapula-shaped scape with a basal radicula, a barrel-shaped pedicel, and a long ßagellum with a basal ring-like annulus. Five morphologically distinct sensilla, including two types of aporous trichoid sensilla (AST-1 and AST-2), one multiporous trichoid sensillum (MST), one multiporous placoid sensillum (MPS), and one aporous basiconiccapitatepeg sensillumwere identiÞedon theantennaeofboth sexes.Theantennal structures of T. radiata were sexually dimorphic. Male antennae consisted of four funicular ßagellomeres and possessed a greater number of olfactoryMST than female antennae, suggesting their possible function in perception of mate-related volatile cues. Female antennae were characterized by three funicular ßagellomeres and a greater number of MPS than male antennae, suggesting their possible function in the perception of host-related volatile cues. The results are discussed in relation to plausible roles of the identiÞed sensilla in mate and host location by this important parasitoid species.

Survival of Diaphorina Citri (homoptera: Psyllidae), and Its Two Parasitoids, Tamarixia Radiata (hymenoptera: Eulophidae) and Diaphorencyrtus Aligarhensis (hymenoptera: Encyrtidae), under Different Relative Humidities and Temperature Regimes

The ability of an exotic citrus pest, Diaphorina citri Kuwayama, and its two parasitoids, Tamarixia radiata (Waterston) and Diaphorencyrtus aligarhensis (Shafee, Alam & Agarwal), to survive under different relative humidities (7%, 33%, 53%, 75% and 97%) at 25 and 30 ° C was compared. The data obtained may help to predict potential climatic limitations to their establishment in Florida and indic...

Oviposition Behavior and Survival of Tamarixia radiata (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), an Ectoparasitoid of the Asian Citrus Psyllid, Diaphorina citri (Hemiptera: Liviidae), on Hosts Exposed to an Entomopathogenic Fungus, Isaria fumosorosea (Hypocreales: Cordycipitaceae), Under Laboratory Conditions.

Antagonistic interactions between the nymphal parasitoid, Tamarixia radiata Waterston (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), and the ARSEF 3581 strain of the entomopathogenic fungus, Isaria fumosorosea Wize (Hypocreales: Cordycipitaceae), could disrupt biological control of the Asian citrus psyllid, Diaphorina citri Kuwayama (Hemiptera: Liviidae). Three interactions were evaluated under laboratory conditio...

Life table of Tamarixia radiata (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) on Diaphorina citri (Hemiptera: Psyllidae) at different temperatures.

Tamarixia radiata (Waterston, 1922) is the main parasitoid of Diaphorina citri (Kuwayama, 1907), and has been used in classical biological control programs in several countries. The current study investigated the biology and determined the fertility life table of T. radiata in different temperatures, to obtain information to support the establishment of a biological control program for D. citri...
